On the road to Brisbane

Reidy's Blog - We are finally off on the road. After 6 months living with Edith and Gav (thanks heaps for you love and patience) we have hit the road.

We are well into Week 1 on the road and besides the rain here in Byron Bay it has been an excellent start to the trip. Janeney's prep with the van has been super with more stuff pack into the 'Tardus' than you could imagine. i keep finding new storage areas, it's never ending.

Our first night was spent in the beautiful Hunter Valley. I got a ride in the next morning touring around vineyards (Lindemans, Brokenwood, and Binbadgen and golf courses (Cypress Lakes and The Vintage). Janene took a lovely photo of Ella and I on my return.

Day 2-4 saw us get to 'Weemala', our great mates the Rogers farm near Tamworth and their ever growing family which is about to gain another addition. The kids loved it, riding bikes, playing footy, cooking deserts, bonfires, mowing the lawn etc. Thanks so much James and Sal we loved our time with you again, we'll be back!!

After Anzac Day on the farm we headed north through Armidale and ended up just north of Glen Inness at a free camp site near Breaky's Creek. I cooked spag bol on the campfire with Tas loving the open fire. The kids did time trials on their bikes around the loop and enjoyed the stars before heading to bed. An unexpected toilet visit took Tas and I over to the toilet that 'had a smell to outlast religion'  and then we shared a great moment where i waited for a big rig truck to come through on the nearby highway with lights a blazing like a christmas tree. He loved it and spent the next hour peering out the vans windows looking for big trucks passing in the night.

We just travelled through Tenterfield and finally Bangalow before getting to a wet wet Byron and our campsite at beautiful Clakes Beach. This morning I got in another ride down to Lennox Head, 2 hours in the rain to toughen up pre Tour de Cure :-)

A bit of school work this morning and then who knows. We are loving being on the road and enjoying quality time with the kids. Over to Mya......

Mya's Blog - I can't wait to get to Brisbane! We just arrived at Byron Bay and ever since we got here it's been raining cat's and dog's.My favourite part of the first week was having a bonfire at night in Tamworth and jumping  on the jumping pillow in Cessnock.
